Setting

Copper Cannon Camp is located on 128 acres adjacent to the White Mountain National Forest and features deep woods, beautiful scenery, incredible views and the Gale River running through the property. The camp offers wonderful views of Mt. Lafayette, Mt. Garfield, Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch. Miles of trails running through the Copper Cannon property and into the national forest offer excellent opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Lodging

Copper Cannon’s main lodging comes in the form of eight rustic but comfortable cabins located “on the hill”. Each cabin sleeps 6-9 individuals as well as having a separate staff area with its own bunk and storage. The eight cabins are located in two groups of four cabins each on separate sides of the hill. Each cabin features electricity, a porch with sitting area and is in close proximity to a bath house. Several other “small” cabins sleeping 3-4 each dot the hillside as well.

In addition to the regular cabins, Copper Cannon can host more individuals with various tent platform areas around the camp property. These platforms sleep large groups of people in a more natural setting and offer beautiful scenery such as up in the north woods of camp and on the banks of the Gale River. Winterized buildings such as Ben’s Den, Corliss Cabin and our Lodge, can accommodate winter groups in comfortable heated facilities.

Buildings

In addition to the various forms of lodging, the camp features a number of buildings around the property to help facilitate nearly a hundred campers, staff and visitors a week. The fully winterized Dining Hall features both indoor and outdoor seating and three levels for programing including our library on the third level. Ben’s Den is a great meeting spot and has two private rooms with sleeping accommodations for 12. With a pool table and couches, Ben’s Den makes a great gathering spot. Our arts and crafts building is stocked with everything people need to create their works of art. Our Lodge has a small stage and a large meeting area which can be configured as a break out area or raining day site as well as housing for twelve.

Outdoor Activity Areas

Copper Cannon’s outdoor activity areas are where all the fun happens! Because of the beautiful setting, guests have a chance to engage in all sorts of outdoor activities from hiking to sports to wilderness survival. We have a large meadow featuring a soccer field, volleyball court, archery range, bouldering wall and a dunk tank. The pavilion overlooking the meadow serves as a perfect spot for barbecues and events to combine eating and sitting areas with the recreation area. Camp features a high ropes course with six elements, including a long zipline. There are also low ropes courses, basketball goals, GaGa Pit, campfire areas and all the hiking trails and nature areas a person can imagine. Nearby offsite activities include swimming at Echo Lake, Franconia Notch State Park with Cannon Mountain Ski Area, 1200 miles of trails in the national forest and much, much more.

We highly recommend you visit Copper Cannon prior to booking a reservation to ensure that our site will meet your group’s needs. We must escort visitors, and want to answer any questions that arise, so please inquire with our staff about the best time to visit.

All funds raised through Copper Cannon Camp’s rental and retreat events help fund our core mission of providing a free summer camp experience to New Hampshire’s low-income youth. For more information about our mission.
